After the release of the Harry Potter series, I wasn't too interested in JK Rowlings' new work, especially since it was no longer about the wizarding world. Recently, I found myself inspired and motivated to read The Cuckoo's Calling. Knowing that there was already a tv series based on the books, I hungrily dove into the nearly 600-page beast so I could make comparisons. JK Rowling is no stranger to descriptive, page turning work. Not surprisingly, I found myself captivated and greedily flipping pages to unravel the web of Lula Landry's murder and whodunit, just like I did all those years ago when I first discovered Harry Potter. To be honest, I thought I had the mystery of Lula's death figured out, but Rowling's legendary storytelling threw me for a loop and kept me in suspense until the very end. I couldn't resist the next book so I've already started The Silkworm and plan to read the rest of the series. Go figure!
